Telugu cinema was dominated by L. V. Prasad, Chitoor Nagayya among others during 1940-50s.
From the 1960s through the 1980s, the industry was dominated by N. T. Rama Rao, A. Nageswara Rao and S.V.Ranga Rao.
From 1975s to 1987, Krishna, ShobanBabu and Krishnam Raju maintained a strong grip on the box office.
From 1987 to 2004, the industry was dominated by Chiranjeevi,venketesh ,Bala Krishna and Nagarjuna.
From 2005, young stars like Ram Charan Teja, Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Ravi Teja, Jr. NTR etc had a grip on box office.
In 2010 many heroes like rana,naga chaitanya,varun sandesh, naresh etc., came into form.
